Who we are…

From Dr Peter Marshall

Everyone has a unique life story that shapes who we are, what we value, and sometimes even our life's purpose. For me, that purpose emerged in my twenties when I found my calling in Chiropractic.

With over 35 years of experience, I completed a five-year degree in Melbourne and practiced on the Gold Coast and Launceston before returning to New Zealand in 2019.

Two pivotal events have profoundly influenced my journey and practice.

The first defining moment came from the unexplained back and leg pain I suffered early in life, which hindered my ability to participate in sports. This was a devastating experience for me and ignited a desire to further my education beyond my degree to seek answers for myself. Thankfully, I eventually found solutions, albeit too late for my own athletic pursuits. Today, I strive to apply that knowledge to help others.

Because of my personal experiences, I focus not only on the specific issues patients present but also on uncovering "covert" (hidden) weaknesses in the muscle, joint, and nerve systems that could lead to poor health or unnecessary injuries and performance issues.

The Second occurred in the late 80s when I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) towards the end of my degree.

My relentless quest for a “cure” consumed significant time, energy, and resources. However, this struggle has fostered a more compassionate approach to treating others who are also seeking answers. Additionally, my experience with CFS has enriched my understanding of health in ways I couldn't have anticipated, which I hope benefits my patients.

Lastly, I recognize that some ailments require time and treatment to manage effectively, and I will always communicate openly about this. If I identify an issue outside my expertise, I believe it's best to refer you to a qualified practitioner in that field. I have made it a priority to surround myself with skilled professionals to ensure you receive the best care possible.
