A word from Exercise Physiologist
Pyar Nanoo
My name is Pyar Nanoo, I am an Exercise Physiologist. I have been practising for 20 years.
In South Africa, I completed the 3-year degree in Exercise Science and in addition to this, I also completed a further one-year postgraduate Honours degree in Exercise Physiology and Exercise Science.
People often see Exercise Physiologists, generally for one of four reasons:
Firstly, they have some sort of muscle related imbalances/weaknesses and are aware that something is going wrong with their muscles and/or joints, and this is possibly affecting something they do.
Secondly, there are times when Chiropractor’s refer to us to strengthen weak areas once they have restored spinal movement. In Australia, Peter has worked with many Exercise Physiologists within professional teams, as well as in private practice, where our expertise was complimentary to his work.
Thirdly, people are trying to increase their performance in some type of sport or activity.
Fourthly, patients with neurological conditions e.g. Stroke, Parkinsons or respiratory conditions e.g. Asthma, benefit greatly from our services. You can contact me directly or be referred by a doctor.
Your assessment
A consultation with me will allow me to specifically test how your body’s structure, such as knees, hips and shoulder joints are working, from a muscular perspective.
From this testing, a tailored rehabilitation plan is designed based on the imbalances or muscular compensations found. This plan utilises specific exercises (and possibly some soft tissue trigger point massage therapy), to not only have you pain free, but also moving better and performing at your best…
3 areas of focus:
· Orthopaedic rehab (pre/post-surgery)
· Cardiac Rehab
· Peak performance
